Manchester United launched their new Facebook Page today to showcase the club’s 134-year history and to bring fans worldwide closer to the club.
United is one of the first brands in the world to launch the page that will allow supporters across the globe greater interaction with their beloved club as well as providing exciting new content.
The page features a detailed history of the club with the aid of Facebook’s timeline feature alongside providing followers with the latest news, pictures and videos from in and around the club.
Richard Arnold, Manchester United’s Commercial Director, said: “Manchester United is proud to be one of the first global brands launching a new Facebook Page.
“We are committed to launching innovative digital services that enable our fans to get closer to the club and our new Facebook Page is an exciting example of these efforts.”
The comprehensive timeline provides information from the very birth of the club in 1878 up until the current Premier League season, allowing fans to share every step of the way in the club’s rich and proud history.
Manchester United’s Facebook Page is available in 18 languages and is already followed by over 22.9m people.
The clubs on-going commitment to provide fans greater interaction is highlighted by the addition of over 300 new pieces of content to the page with today’s launch in mind.
Fans worldwide are already enjoying the features of the new page and Mr Arnold is hopeful the page will allow fans of all ages to learn about the highlights of the club’s prestigious past.
“We hope that our supporters will enjoy the experience of being able to look back over time to relive momentous Manchester United events,” he said.
The new Facebook Page looks to be an instant hit and The Red Devils’ fans have not been shy in pledging their support.
