Spinningfields is to host a weekend of celebrations in honour of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee next month.
On Monday June 4, enjoy the royal revelries from the exclusivity of your own Raj tent, a traditional picnic bench or a good old British deck-chair.
With live screenings of the Jubilee Concert in Hardman Square, and a special matinée showing of The Queen starring Helen Mirren, Spinningfields is THE place to spend the royal bank holiday.
Kelly Briggs, Marketing Co-ordinator at Spinningfields, said she was looking forward to the weekend's festivities.
She said: “Spinningfields has become renowned for being a place for people to come together to celebrate big events, whether it's a sporting occasion, a film at Screenfields or a one-off event like the Queen's Jubilee.
“Having enjoyed a fantastic night at Labyrinth this week, with over 2,000 people coming down, we're excited about the Jubilee and looking forward to welcoming everyone to a regal celebration!”
Spinningfields has created a variety of corporate and public packages fit for a king or queen.
On Saturday June 3 Spinningfields will host a picnic on the square, alongside the screening of the Jubilee Thames River Pageant. Entry is free.
The Mojito Bar and Spinningfields’ new pop-up bar, The Yacht Club, will be serving up a variety of royal tipples and a mouth-watering selection of BBQ food from Southern 11’s Meat Shack BBQ will also be available.
James Golding, 22, admitted he is a big fan of the monarchy and was at Albert Square when the Queen visited Manchester earlier this year.
He said: “I’m really excited about the Jubilee Party. I was there when the Queen visited Manchester in March and I’ll be here at Spinningfields to celebrate her 60 years on the throne.”
Angela Brentnall, 27, said: “It’s really nice to have Spinningfields because Manchester City Centre doesn’t have that much greenery, and it’s just a nice place for people to come to and relax, especially when the weather is like this.”
