Niger super-group The Endless Journey will perform at Manchester’s Royal Northern College of Music next month and Mancunian Matters have got tickets up for grabs.
As part of the 2012 We Face Forward season the show, on July 3, celebrates contemporary West African art and music.
Comprising four musicians from two of Niger’s leading groups, Mamane Barka and Etran Finatawa, the performance brings the music and culture of their respected (and adopted) nomadic tribes to the stage.
This powerful show is an impassioned call for action to preserve Niger’s cultural heritage through swirling guitars, searing vocals and incessant rhythms performed against a backdrop of evocative film and images.
