Former England manager Fabio Capello is taunting Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney for only understanding 'Scottish'.
The Italian 66-year-old quit his role with England in February and has faced a mountain of criticism from players who claimed his tactics were ‘lost in translation’.
But Capello blamed Rooney’s two-match ban, poor performances and lack of English for the country’s Euro 2012 exit.
"After seeing the latest game, I think Rooney only understands Scottish," Capello told Italian radio.
"That's because he only plays well in Manchester, where Sir Alex Ferguson speaks Scottish."
Rooney scored his first goal in a major tournament since the 2004 Euros but has been in scintillating form for his club this season – netting 35 times.
