Sexual desires like BDSM, which were once a bit too naughty to even talk about, are becoming less and less taboo thanks to the popularity of Fifty Shades of Grey and events like Manchester’s Sexhibition Expo, according to a professional mistress and adult performer.
And 24-year-old Zara Du Rose*, who will have her very own stall at this summer’s event, is delighted to see this social and sexual progress.
The Bedfordshire-based porn star is excited to be a part of the UK’s most extravagant erotic event of the year, which will be showcasing 52 pin-ups, eight performers, five speakers, two DJs and many more to Event City in late August.
She told MM: “I think Sexhibition is going to be an amazing event to promote sexuality and open up peoples’ minds about different sexual acts to spice things up.
“I think the event will be influenced by the attention of the Fifty Shades books and films.
“I’ve sensed an increase in people interested in giving BDSM a go.
“About five years ago BDSM would come across as a very dark subject to talk about but nowadays it’s a comfortable thing to chat about.
“It makes me very happy to see how far and accepting our society has come.
“I will be attending the whole weekend in Manchester. I will personally have a stall there so come and say hi!”

Event organiser Cheryl Smith explained that the three day extravaganza aims to welcome anyone who has an interest in sexuality.
“This event will be for everyone who is open and curious about their sexuality,” she said.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming people from all walks of life.
“It’s been designed to offer something for every palette, from stunning catwalk and burlesque performances to interactive workshops.”
The UK’s biggest erotic show will be hosting parties like ‘Sexhibition: After Dark’, ‘Pin-Ups Party’ and ‘Sexhibition’s Industrial Cocktail Party’.
Cheryl, the show’s creative director, added: “We will be holding workshops on Saturday and Sunday for everyone from learning how to striptease for your partner to bondage for beginners.
“Friday is more for people in the industry, such as adult stars, manufacturers, retailers and media organisations.”
Taking place from August 21-23, the three day event will also host Sukki Singapora, the first burlesque performer in the world to ever be invited to tea with the Royal Family.
