Wilmslow knifeman jailed after 13-year-old boy stabbed in the back while playing football with friends
A Wilmslow man who stabbed a 13-year-old footballer was jailed to three years in prison, yesterday.
James Allan, 26, of Altrincham Road, was found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court.
The young boy was playing football with his friends on a school field in Sale on February 12 2011 before an altercation between his brother and Allan resulted in him being stabbed in the back.
Detective Constable Sonia Johnston said: "I hope that this result sends a reassuring message to people around Sale, for whom incidents like this are very rare."
Allan was found not guilty of causing wounding with intent, possession of an offensive weapon, criminal damage and affray.
On the day of the attack, the boy's older brother and his friend were walking their dogs nearby on Cherry Manor when they came across Allan and his dog.
The family dog, whose leash had been taken off, went up to Allan's dog and Allan started shouting and demanding that the dog be pulled back.
The victim's brother tried to separate the dogs and an argument with Allan resulted in a brawl between the pair.
Allan left the area and later returned when he stabbed the boy in the back.
Allan was arrested two weeks later.
