Two working-class heroes from Hyde will release their first charity single on iTunes tomorrow in aid of Stockport-based When You Wish Upon A Star.
Volunteers Steve Scanlon, 50, and Darren Rhodes, 41, have wrote lyrics and music for the track, We Never Said Goodbye, to raise funds for the charity, which grants wishes ffor children suffering from life threatening illnesses.
Celebrated freelancer Tony has designed the cover for the song that Steve, owner of a cleaning business, has written in memory of his son Dominic, who was supported by the foundation during his battle with cancer.
Tony said: “Steve’s song comes from the heart. With the cover I wanted to show the idea of someone slipping away but reaching out to hold on to them, it reminds me of the powerful image in the Cysteine Chapel of figures reaching out touching hands”.

The song was produced for free by Hyde based Music Company Audio Face and Darren, who sings and plays guitar on the track, has been gaining extra exposure playing the song at Britain’s got talent auditions in Manchester.
When You Wish Upon a Star has made over 14,000 wishes come true since it was started by Barbara White OBE in 1990.
Steve said: “The song gives an insight to how we lived through Dom’s illness and I hope that any families in a similar position can now get a positive out of what may happen in the future”.
We Never Said Goodbye is available to download from ITunes from tomorrow for 79p.
