By Dean Wilkins

Bolton Wanderers are paying tribute to legend Eric Bell who died at the age of 82 today.

Bell – who hailed from Clayton in Manchester – made 118 appearances for the side between 1949 and 1958.

Despite his nine-year career with the Wanderers, Bell only netted twice – his most famous came at Wembley against Blackpool in the 1953 FA Cup final after completing the game with a torn hamstring.

A spokesman for the club said: “Bolton Wanderers are saddened to hear that former player Eric Bell has died, aged 82.

“Bell died peacefully with his family by his side at the Marion Lauder care home in Wythenshawe.

“All at Bolton Wanderers offer their condolences to Eric Bell's family.”
