Missing schoolgirls appeal: Concern grows for two sisters last seen while playing in Whitworth Park, Manchester

By Dean Wilkins

Two young sisters are missing after disappearing while playing in a Manchester park.

The girls, eight-year-old Teigan Boyd and 11-year-old Liana, were last seen at about 8pm yesterday when they went to play in Whitworth Park, Fallowfield.

The girls’ mother left their home nearby to try and find them but both had disappeared.

Concern is growing for their whereabouts as police appeal to members of the public for their help in tracing their movements.

Chief Superintendent Rob Potts said: "Clearly, the family is fraught with worry that these girls have spent the night away from home. We have launched a police investigation where we are pulling out all the stops to find them safe and well.

"We are in the early, critical stages of our inquiries and we would urge anyone with information to call us as soon as possible.

"Whitworth Park is surrounded by busy roads and last night's weather would have meant that the park was busy.

"We need anyone who may have seen the girls call us as this would be vital to our inquiries."

The sisters are white with brown hair – Liana is about 5ft 2in tall.

She was last wearing a brown cardigan, black top and black leggings. Her sister Teigan was last wearing denim shorts and a green top.
