Ahead of the North West’s inaugural Northern Sessions night at Manchester235 Casino – in collaboration with MM – The Suns set the tone for their headline slot.
Chester groovers The Suns have been rising high above England’s skyline. The country-rock inspired five-piece have had Clint Boon declaring that they’re ‘the kind of band I want to be in’.
They will top a night off which sees Manchester’s Missed You At The Show and Death to the Strange unite for an exhilarating affair. Their fresh sound is a collection of Latino vibes intertwined with American garage rock and the night will be capped off by a band who are electric in live performances.
The night will be caressed through to the end by one of the city’s finest DJs spinning the best in indie, alternative and even a touch of Madchester, so be sure to keep the drinks flowing and those feet moving.
Speaking before the gig the five-piece of Liam, Joe, Jono, Rutter and Dave said: “It’s very exciting to say the least, it kicks of The Suns summer!”
There’s been an ever-growing amount of support for the band and they owe it all to Inspiral Carpets’ and XFM DJ Clint Boon: “Manchester has been extremely kind to us over the years – it’s fair to say if it wasn't for Clint playing us on his show and the venues round town inviting us to play we'd all be working telesales jobs talking about how we could have been contenders.”
But they remain modest about the ‘Mancunian Ambassador’: “When he started playing us and championing us it was a state of total amazement.
“Having someone other than your mum telling you your on the right track has been a great wind behind our backs. We’ve kept in contact with him and he's a great Mancunian Ambassador.”
The band are looking forward to playing in Manchester235 Casino which delivers gambling, alcohol and music under one-roof – what could be better?
“We’ll be suited and booted, no scruffies allowed! If we're making the effort then we want a sea of suits and frocks, after all it is a casino!”
