A youngster followed in her mother’s footsteps today, meeting Her Majesty The Queen at BBC’s MediaCityUK.

Elodie Frost gave her posy of flowers to the Queen after she finished her tour of the BBC’s new Studio building.

It was a particularly proud moment for the seven-year-old’s mother Wendy who met the Queen herself as a young girl in Norwich.

Elodie said: “I was really excited to see the Queen today. I waved my flag like crazy!”

She had desperately wanted to see the Queen as she embarked on her second day of the Jubilee tour, and had brought with her parents and her 18-month-old brother Ennio.

It was the first time Elodie and her brother had seen the Queen.

Mrs Frost said: “The Queen spoke to us! She said ‘It’s lovely here isn’t it.’

“She took our flowers; I didn’t think she would personally take them but she took them and passed them on. We also had a card and present but we’re going to post them.”

Mancunian Matters has more on the Queen’s visit throughout today.
