The London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay will be in Manchester tomorrow and if you’re planning on braving the forecasted rain check out MM’s guide to the route.

Miller Street/Corporation Street

The torch will enter the city down Cheetham Hill Road around 5:40pm before crossing over the train line near Victoria Station on Miller Street before travelling down Corporation Street.

Corporation Street/Exchange Square

The torch will then stop outside the Co-Op Building on near Balloon Street for photographs before crossing Exchange Square and onto Deansgate.

Deansgate

If you fancy seeing an Olympian in the flesh then Deansgate is the place for you – Olympic hero and four-time gold medallist Sir Chris Hoy will be the man in charge of its journey here before handing it on for the next portion of the relay.

Sackville Street/Sackville Gardens

It will travel along Whitworth Street West, Sackville Street, and into Sackville Gardens where a photo will be taken in front of the Alan Turing Statue.

Chinatown

The torch will then continue its trip going through Chinatown and along Cooper Street.

Albert Square/Celebration Concert

The event, which is set to be the highlight of Greater Manchester’s Olympic celebrations, will climax in Albert Square at around 6:50pm with an evening celebration concert.

Manchester’s-own Courteeners are set to headline with the vocal talents of the Halle Youth Choir and newcomers The Tribes also on show.

So if you want to taste the London 2012 spirit then don your pack-a-mac and get out on the streets for Manchester’s moment to shine.
