A racist football fan was found guilty of abusing Manchester United’s Patrice Evra and fans during an FA Cup clash with Liverpool.
Phillip Gannon, 58, was caught by TV cameras making monkey gestures during a volatile atmosphere at Anfield in January.
The Liverpool fan was found guilty of two counts of using abusive language after he callously insulted disabled supporters.
A trial witness also told Liverpool Magistrates’ Court he heard Gannon call Evra: "Tu es petit noir homme merde ("You little black s**t man).”
The match was overshadowed by the return of striker Luis Suarez who was banned for eight games for racially abusing Evra.
Cameras filmed fans in the lower Centenary Stand, where Gannon was sitting with two friends, and he was seen to position his hands under his armpits.
The images spread across Twitter and complaints were made to police.
Gannon also repeatedly shouted ‘pikey’, ‘pikey twats’, ‘pikey bastards’ and ‘pikey c****’ at rival fans throughout the game, the court heard.
He also shouted ‘f*** off you spastic mutants’ towards a section of disabled supporters watching the game nearby, a witness said.
