Trafford Council are set to appoint Acting Chief Executive Theresa Grant to the role full-time, subject to council approval next Wednesday.
The post, with an advertised salary range of £150,000 to £165,000, had been carried out by Ms Grant on an interim basis since former incumbent Janet Callender left for health reasons last August after five months on sick leave.
The appointment is expected to be confirmed at the next meeting of the council on Wednesday June 27 following a recommendation from the Appointment Committee meeting that was held on Tuesday.
Ms Grant expressed her delight at the appointment and vowed to continue to work hard to provide Trafford residents and businesses with the best possible services.
She said: “I am extremely excited to have secured this position and feel privileged to be able to lead Trafford Council through the challenges ahead.
“I am confident that, by working together with our own dedicated members of staff and colleagues at partner organisations, we can maintain our position as a flagship council and ensure a bright future for the borough."
Ms Grant joined Trafford Council in June 2009 as corporate director for transformation and resources, having previously spent 14 years working on transformation and regeneration programmes at Manchester City Council.
Leader of Trafford Council Cllr Matthew Colledge backed the appointment, describing her as a respected ambassador for the borough.
“This was a unanimous decision by a cross-party panel of councillors, which reflects the level of knowledge and passion for Trafford that Theresa consistently demonstrates.
“With Theresa in the role of Chief Executive, I feel confident that we will continue to see Trafford go from strength to strength.”
