Wayne Rooney apologises to boy, 9, for breaking his wrist during Wolves pre-match warm-up

By Dean Wilkins

Wayne Rooney is apologising to a 9-year-old boy after apparently breaking his wrist from kicking a football during the pre-match warm-up at Wolves.

The Manchester United striker was claimed to have broken Jamie Thomas’ wrist after striking the ball into the crowd before the Reds’ 5-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanders on Sunday.

Rooney was unaware of the incident as the schoolboy United fan was taken to hospital where doctors plastered his arm.

Rooney Tweeted: “If i broke this kids wrist in warm up i apologise. If the kids parents get in touch with club i will gladly sign a shirt for him.”

He later added: "I want to apologise to Jamie Thomas, I have arranged for a letter and a signed shirt to be sent to his home address #getwellsoon"
