The newly knighted chief constable of Greater Manchester Police will visit a Manchester children’s charity on tomorrow.

Sir Peter Fahy’s is to visit Wood Street Mission and take a tour of the charity, before he hosts a Q & A session with local supporters of the organisation.

Question time with Sir Peter will take place in the former Wood Street Chapel, where he will talk about his role and responsibility of policing the community.

The visit coincides with the Charity’s annual School Uniform Project and Sir Peter will see first-hand the preparations being made in order to offer free parcels of school uniform to children whose parents cannot afford to buy such items.

This is just one area of action for the Wood Street Mission. Throughout the year, the charity works hard across the region to provide help with clothing, bedding, toys, Christmas and Easter treats and offering a Book Clubs service in each school holiday.

Wood Street Mission’s Manager Jan O’Connor said: “We are delighted Sir Peter is taking time out of his busy schedule to visit our work here at Wood Street.  All our supporters and staff are looking forward to the Q & A session.  It’s not everyday you get the chance to ask the Chief Constable about his work.”

For more information about the work of Wood Street Mission or how you can help visit www.woodstreetmission.org.uk or ring their office on 0161 834 3140.
