A van driver was killed last night in a rush-hour M60 inferno that left the motorway closed for over 12 hours.
Police found a man trapped inside the burning vehicle at the junction one slip-road near Stockport Pyramid at 6.10pm.
He was taken out of the vehicle but was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man is yet to be named as police are yet to inform next of kin. No other motorists were injured in the incident.
The anti-clockwise carriageway of the motorway at junction one and two remained close until 7am this morning while repairs were carried out to the carriageway. There were reports of several miles of tailbacks as far back as Cheadle at junction three.
All lanes are now currently open.

Saw that van on fire on the M60 yesterday but didn’t know someone was in it, ruined my day finding that out
