'No shame or morals': Bogus tree surgeon cons woman, 91, at Wigan home
An immoral conman who claimed to be a tree surgeon stole money from a 91-year-old Wigan woman yesterday.
The bogus thief knocked on the door of the victim’s home on Milford Road at around 10.30am to ask if she needed any work completing in the garden.
The offender was told no but pressurised the woman into agreeing a price who handed over the money before work was completed. The man then drove off.
Police Sergeant Adam Wall, of Wigan Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This man clearly targeted his victim as she was elderly and vulnerable and obviously has no shame or morals.
“The offender is described as being well dressed and I would ask anyone who may have been approached or fallen victim to this man to contact police as soon as possible.”
The offender’s van is described as a white flat bed with black writing on it.
