Sharethematch.com ambassador Andy Gray was talking exclusively to Mancunian Matters…
I think Carlos Tevez’s potential return to Manchester City is a case of you scratch our back and we’ll scratch yours.
Let’s face it Carlos’ time at City will come to an end at the conclusion of this season, but with the club just holding off the challenge of Manchester United it appears they’ve decided the Argentinian could make the difference and get them across the line.
From Carlos’ perspective he also knows a move is more likely if he is scoring goals and reminding everyone what a good player he is – so the hope is it will prove win, win for everyone.
I think this week’s infamous ‘treated like a dog’ interview was wrong. It was clearly a decision he made on his own to do this and I don’t think it was anything to do with his agent.
This was something he was asked to do on his own and he did it. I think it’s something that his advisors would have talked him out of.
Sadly, they were too late and he did it and once it’s out there, it’s going to reach these shores, and in hindsight that’s the last thing he needed.
But I think if City were top of the league with a ten-point lead, we would not be talking about him back at City, I really believe that. But I think it’s a case of ‘we need you, you need us’ and it’s a two-way street. We can help you get a move and you can help us win the title so why don’t we shake hands, make up and at least until the end of the season, put on a united front and go from there.
It seems that Carlos can’t do that for more than a day or so! But it will be interesting to see how his team-mates take him and that’s the key for me. If his team-mates embrace him and welcome him back in with open arms, then I think it’ll be OK. If they don’t, then I don’t think there is a future there for Carlos Tevez.
There are still plenty of positives at the Etihad and the biggest remains Joe Hart. But however well Joe is doing, and however good he can go on to be I wouldn’t burden him with the England captaincy right now.

I think he should concentrate on what he does best and that is being one of the best in the world.
I’ve been criticised over the past three or four months for claiming that he is in the top three or four goalkeepers in the world. A few people Tweet and text saying ‘Don’t talk rubbish, he’s not there yet’. Well, I’m sorry but he is up there. He is definitely up there with the very, very best. England are going to go into a major tournament, fingers-crossed for them, with a fit goalkeeper and one of the best that the country has produced for many a year.
