Rapping schoolboy, 11, inspires terminally ill uncle and hopes to win £10,000 for The Christie cancer charity

An 11-year-old schoolboy is inspiring his terminally ill uncle by rapping to win £10,000 for Manchester’s The Christie cancer charity.

Dylan Broadbent, of Wakefield, is hoping to win the competition and give the money to the specialist cancer hospital where his uncle Adam is receiving treatment.

Dylan joins friends in imitating the popular television advert by findaproperty.com and needs supporters to ‘Like’ it through Facebook and his video currently has nearly 2,500 votes.

His dad Jamie Broadbent said: “My brother was diagnosed with terminal lung and brain cancer about a year ago and we were told he wouldn’t make it past a month.

“But he made it until Christmas and is still doing well now. The work Christies do is amazing and it’s like he’s better than he was when he went in.

“Sometimes you can feel helpless in situations like this but we are to give something back to them thanks to Dylan.”

Dylan, aka Dlyz, entered his ‘Christie Rap’ into the property company’s Rap for a Cause competition which closes in May and needs people to help him regain the top spot.

Helen Crosbie, Communications Officer of The Christie, said: “We are rooting for Dylan, he’s been fantastic and we’re delighted that he used his creative talent to help The Christie.”

Mr Broadbent said that he and his family are very grateful for the work the charity do and thanked everyone who had voted for his son so far.
