British band Enter Shikari has enjoyed cult following since their formation in 2003. Their brand of post-hardcore electronic is bound to turn Manchester Apollo into a swirling sauna quicker than you can say ‘do you like screamo.’

Pokey LaFarge, Manchester Academy, Doors 7.30pm, £10
Recent guests of Jools Holland, the American four-piece combine Jazz and Blues. One of the most influential roots bands in the world today, lead singer Pokey uses his booming voice to great effect. The gig was originally set to take place in the Night & Day Cafe, but has been scaled up due to popular demand. This is a great band to catch now, as they are returning to America in the summer.

Wednesday 21
Man City V Chelsea, City of Manchester Stadium, Starts 7.45, sold out.
All other cultural events will be on hold tonight, as City fans watch the Blues play Chelsea at home. Ladbrokes places City at 5/6 to win. City, after their agonising defeat to Mancini last Thursday, are hoping for a return to form which will cement them at the top of the league.
Tickets to this event are sold out, but pubs around the city will be showing the event live on Sky Sports 1.
Thursday 22
Defying Hitler, Theatre Unlimited, The Lowry, 8pm, £12
This production premiered at the National and has toured throughout the UK. The play sees German Sebastian Haffne as he grows up in the shadow of the Third Reich. Theatre Unlimited base their play upon the diary of the real life Haffne, to create a production with a strong educational grounding. Suitable for 14+

Friday 23
A Musical World, The Dancehouse, 7.30, £8
This is the opening night of the Northern Ballet School’s Jazzgalore company, who will be performing a cabaret act. The dancers will take you on a journey around the world, putting their own unique twist on dances and styles from New York, Hawaii, Arabia and China.

Saturday 24
Sarah Millican, The 02 Apollo, 7pm £22.75
Award winning comedian Sarah Millican comes to the Manchester Apollo with her hit show: Thoroughly Modern Millican. The comedian has gone from strength to strength since winning first newcomer at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2008. She is recommended to anyone who wants a ‘highly good laugh.’

Established comedians try out their new material at Manchester’s favourite Sunday night comedy slot. This is an unbelievably cheap night for priceless fun.
