Woman, 21, arrested on suspicion of murder after man found in Manchester canal – boy, 14, remains in custody

A woman is being questioned on suspicion of murder after a man’s body was found in the canal near Manchester’s Gay Village.

Detectives investigating the death of Simon Brass, 40, of Salford, arrested a 21-year-old woman after his body was found near Canal Street on Saturday.

A 14-year-old remains in police custody on suspicion of murder after a post-mortem revealed that Mr Brass had drowned.

Speaking about the arrest, Chief Superintendent Russ Jackson said: "As a result of information received from the community, we have made this arrest.

"However, we are still eager to talk to anyone who may have information as to what lead up to the discovery of the man's body."
