Pixie Lott on fashion, festivals and her love of Manchester

PIXIE: Launching her collection

Blonde chart-topper Pixie Lott graced Manchester Arndale last Tuesday to launch her new fashion collection for Lipsy. MM caught up with the popstar to discuss her new range and why she chose Manchester for the launch.

Relaxing after her train journey up from London in a private room in the Manchester Arndale, the pint-sized popstar was in good spirits and told me she was especially happy with launching her new collection in this city.

“I chose Manchester to launch my new collection because I love this city, I was here not so long ago performing at Manchester Pride which was a fantastic experience, the city has got a great vibe.

“I always have a lot of fun when I’m here and I notice the Mancunian girls love to dress up, this is a great place to party so I couldn’t think of a better place to launch the new collection,” she said.

The Essex girl chose to wear a blue playsuit from her own collection for the day because she says it’s comfortable and that’s what’s most important.

Smiling down at her own creation she said: “Playsuits are so comfortable, and can flatter any figure, there are plenty of different kinds in my collection which I’m hoping will be really popular.”

Pixie who is fast becoming a style icon believes her new range is the best yet, the collection is full of mini-dresses, sequinned hotpants and playsuits, perfect for the upcoming Christmas party season.

“I chose to design my collection around what I’m wearing at the moment, I’m a young girl who loves to dress up and I want to inspire other girls through my collection.

“My collection has everything, but most importantly it’s wearable,” she said.

Speaking of her relationship with the popular high street store Lipsy, she is clearly proud of her achievements and enjoying every minute working with the fashion brand.

“When Lipsy first approached me with the idea of creating my own collection, I was so excited, fashion is so important to me so I thought why not - I’ll give it a go!

“I’ve grown up wearing Lipsy dresses, so to be working with them now on my fourth collection is a dream come true.”

Talking about her previous spring/summer collection she said: “My last collection was all about festival wear. Being a festival go-er myself it’s always important to have festival outfits in your wardrobe, it’s become a ritual for most people every year to go to a festival so it’s important for people to have their outfits ready!”

“It’s great to have the opportunity to put my own style into the clothes, each collection has been different and when I design a line I always think of what my fans would want,” she said. 

Pixie is no stranger to the fashion scene, seen at many London Fashion Week events over the last couple of years, she admits she gains a lot of inspiration from attending the shows.

“I love going to fashion shows, I attended the Fendi and Roberto Cavalli shows during London Fashion Week and they were just so inspiring, I was gutted I only had one day off so I could of seen more!”

As well as recently bagging herself a number one single with ‘All About Tonight’ there seems to be no stopping Pixie as she hopes to keep producing new collections with Lipsy in the future as well as continuing to top the charts with her music.
