A lorry has set ablaze, sending clouds of smoke billowing across the Manchester-bound M602 motorway – it is not yet known whether the driver of the vehicle has managed to escape the fire.
Terrifying images of the lorry engulfed in flames and thick black smoke are flooding Twitter as traffic has come to the halt near Junction 3 of the M602, where the motorway crosses Langworthy Road.

Police have yet to report whether there have been any injuries, but are on the scene along with fire crews tackling the blaze.
