DJs and fundraisers are readying themselves for a special night at Manchester's Sound Control in support of cancer sufferers and The Christie charity.
CHEWN! In aid of The Christie was organised as a result of young Mancunian DJ Chew being diagnosed with cancer.
The event has seen many prolific Manchester DJs show their support and have donated their time and energy in response to the thousands of people across Greater Manchester who are affected by cancer.
Kirstie Donovan, the event organiser said: “It’s refreshing to see that in this day and age we can come together for the sake of one cause without seeking benefit for ourselves, it’s an enlightening feeling of modern day community spirit.
She added: “Without the efforts of the The Christie many of the young people that are treated there may not of been able to find the strength in themselves to battle the disease.
“Nearly everyone involved in CHEWN! has been affected by cancer one way or another and if we can continue to keep the message of support out there the strength to fight cancer will also survive and hopefully bring hope/strength to others in their time of need.”
The night has expanded to two floors of Sound Control with some of Manchester’s biggest DJs showcasing the best in house and techno.
DJ Gemma Furbank, the UK’s No 1 Female DJ of 2011, was one of the first DJ’s to confirm their appearance at CHEWN! and will be accompanied by Daz Partington of 808 State, DJ Jini Cowan and The Venus House Mafia.
Ms Donovan added: “I don’t think Manchester has seen such a top prestige mix of DJ’s under one roof for a long time and the night is certainly going to deliver one of the best of 2012 so far.”
Tickets are £10 and all proceeds are going to The Christie charity. CHEWN! will be on at Sound Control from 9pm – 3am this Friday May 18.
