The biggest talent show in the country will climax in Manchester as the X Factor leaves London for the first time in its nine-year history.
The final show was moved to Wembley Arena last year rather than its home for many years Fountain Studios, and ITV confirmed that the Saturday night marvel will continue its journey north.
This year’s finale – which sees amateur singers compete to win a professional record contract – will take place at Manchester Central as northerner and Take That hero Gary Barlow joins, Nicole Scherzinger, Tulisa and Louis Walsh in crowning the winner.
Mr Walsh said: "Our live final is going to be another major event – so the X Factor 2012 has everything. I believe it's going to be our best series yet."
However, many have been left concerned about the number of tickets available for the two-night final as nearly half of the tickets for the 11,000 seat complex will be given to customers of TalkTalk – the show’s sponsor.
The X Factor begins this Saturday night on ITV 1.
