Police are hunting a baseball bat-wielding masked maniac who burst into a Bury man’s home and battered him with the weapon.
The victim, of Argyle Avenue, Whitefield, was alone when the man in a balaclava broke into his home and hit him numerous times.
The 32-year-old needed staples to close his head wound, six stitches to his finger and suffered bruising all over his body.
Detective Constable Antony Hough, of Bury CID, said: "This was a particularly nasty attack on a man during which he was struck numerous times with a baseball bat in what should have been the sanctity of his home.”
The attack happened at around 1pm on Monday July 9, and the offender is described as black and was wearing a balaclava.
Detective Constable Hough added: "I am appealing to anyone who may have information about this attack to come forward. For example, this man was attacked in the early afternoon so I would ask that if anyone who was on the street at that time and saw a man hanging around the area, possibly wearing a balaclava, come forward.
"Any information will be treated in the strictest confidence."
Anyone with information should call Bury CID on 0161 856 8150 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
