Manchester City outcast Emmanuel Adebayor is moving to Tottenham Hotspur for a deal worth around £6million.
The 28-year-old former Arsenal striker spent last season on loan at White Hart Lane and netted 17 goals in 33 games.
And after being squeezed out of the Premier League champions’ squad, the Togo international is expected to cost Spurs a fraction of his true value.
New boss Andre Villas-Boas admitted he was pursuing Adebayor yesterday: "It would be a lie if I tell you we are not looking for a striker."
He added: “And of course Ade is part of that list. We are extremely willing to have Adebayor on board with us."
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has struggled to convince the striker to take a reduction in wages but both parties are believed to have agreed a £100,000-a-week pay packet.
