Ready for the world: Manchester United new boy Shinji Kagawa confident he can handle Premier League pressure
Promising signing Shinji Kagawa is confident he can shine on the global stage while playing for Manchester United.
The Japanese midfielder moved from Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth £17million and appeared in his first media conference at Old Trafford yesterday.
The East Asian press heavily outnumbered those who kept tabs on Ji-Sung Park in previous years – clearly outlining the scrutiny the 23-year-old is now under.
"I definitely feel the attention of the media globally now I am a member of a great squad like Manchester United," said Kagawa.
He added: "Everything here at the club shows me I have come somewhere really big.
"But I think I can take the pressure. I am pretty confident I can adapt to the style of the Premier League."
United’s pre-season tour across the world begins on Monday when the squad flies to South African World Cup hosts Durban to begin their two-match visit.
And Sir Alex Ferguson revealed that Kagawa and Crewe Alexander starlet Nick Powell are not the only transfer the club are hunting.
"When the European Championships or the World Cup is on, there is always a delay in the transfer industry," said Ferguson.
"Now all that is over we are still trying to get maybe one player in."
Everton’s standout-player of the last season Leighton Baines is being hevily linked with the Reds but confirmation of interest from both parties is yet to occur.
