Manchester will welcome a display of European culture this week as four of the city’s cultural hubs join forces to showcase some of the best European short films.
Love in Shorts festival is the work of the Instituto Cervantes, the Alliance Française de Manchester, the Societa' Dante Alighieri Manchester and the Goethe Institute, in partnership with world television channel Eurochannel.
As part of the third Eurochannel Short Films Tour, the festival is free to the public and will run on July 12 at the Instituto Cervantes and the following night at the Alliance Française de Manchester.
The programme celebrates and offers insight into the variety of European cultures through the screening of 15 short films, all from different genres and origins.
Thursday night’s event in Deansgate runs from 6.30pm to 9pm and will show films from Spain, Italy, and Moldova, as well as 10-minute English film ‘I’ll tell you’.
Irish film ‘The Ballad of Kik Kanturk’ is among the seven films to be screened on Friday night in Portland Street, including French, German and Latvian offerings.
All the short films will be shown in their original version with English subtitles.
Although the festival is free of charge, customers are asked to book their places in advance.
