Vandals who caused blaze in Chester Road shop hunted by Greater Manchester Police

Vandals who may have caused a Trafford store to burn down are being hunted be police.

Taylor Electrics, on Chester Road, was severely damaged after a neon sign’s electrical fault caused the building to burst into flames on March 2, after morning staff turned the sign on.

The busy road was closed off while fire-fighters tackled the blaze and officers believe the business, which has since lost its base, was hit by vandals.

Sergeant Phil Barnes said: "The impact that this turn of events has had on the business cannot be underestimated. To keep the business alive, they have had to carry out their operations without a base which has been chaotic to say the least.

"I would appeal to anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area to call us.

"While we do not believe the vandals intended to cause this much damage, this would not have happened had they not broken the law.

"I hope that this incident sends a message to all would be vandals that they do not know the hazards someone else's property could pose."
