Ex-Manchester United star Danny Wallace is inspiring people to raise money for those affected by MS.
Wallace was diagnosed with MS in 1996, after winning five trophies with the Reds, and joined fellow fundraisers outside the National Football Museum to promote Wheel & Walk, yesterday.
The 6km event takes place in Manchester this Sunday, as participants mark the last day of MS Life 2012 and hope to continue providing funding for vital research into MS and supporting people affected by the condition.
After a rainy photography shoot on Urbis, Wallace told MM: “MS Life is about making people aware of the condition; a lot of people I know aren’t really informed about the effects of this terrible disease.
"By coming down and getting involved in the workshops at Manchester Central on Saturday, and Sunday’s Wheel & Walk, then hopefully they will be able to leave with a positive outlook.
“Manchester’s events this weekend will give sufferers a chance to meet others and it’s great to be involved in. I hope a lot of people come down because there’s so much support and help on offer.”
There will be more than 40 workshops at the MS Life event that will offer advice on issues from symptom management and emotional support, to financial support and employment.
The activities planned are designed to inform those affected by MS of the latest research developments and explore ways that those with the condition can improve mental and physical well-being.
Visitors can also sign up to volunteer with the MS Society, take an accessible exercise class, be pampered in a spa, get involved in cooking demonstrations from some of the city’s finest chefs and also meet experts for a discussion about MS.
Kaz Laljee, who also attended the event yesterday, said: “This will be the first time I’ve taken part in Wheel & Walk and I can’t wait to get involved in such an inspirational event.”

He added: “I’d encourage as many people as possible to take part in Wheel & Walk and show that by working together and being positive about MS, you can face up to the challenges of MS and live a full life.”
