'TOUGH GAME' Manchester City take on Chelsea

By James Callery

Manchester City’s Joleon Lescott is hoping his knowledge of Villa Park could lead to goals in their Community Shield clash with Chelsea on Sunday.

The 29-year-old is predicting a ‘tough game’ against a Chelsea bolstered by some new signings.

He said: “They have a few quality additions to go in with the spine of the team that has been there for a long time so we know we’re in for a tough game and Chelsea will be a force again this season.”

However the defender knows Villa Park only too well – it is the home of his boyhood club and the first stadium he ever graced as a schoolboy.

The England international has had his fair share of goals there too – including the winning goal against Villa last season.

“I’ve scored a few goals at Villa Park,” he admitted, and predicted more success for the Blues this coming season. “I think this season will be very similar to the second half of last season as teams now know how strong we are and that will influence how they set up against us."
