Holy sci-fi fest, Batman! MCM Expo comic convention returns to Manchester Central

By Alex McIntyre

The MCM Expo Manchester Comic Con is coming to the city this month for the second time.

The show on July 21 will feature special guests from the worlds of TV, animé and sport including Star Wars and Harry Potter star Warwick Davis and England’s most capped footballer Peter Shilton.

Manchester City greats Mike Summerbee, Tony Book and Colin Bell will also attend.

MCM Expo’s David Axbey said: “We’re really pleased to be bringing MCM Expo Manchester Comic Con back to Manchester Central.

“We thought it was high time that Manchester got its own comic convention and the success of last year's inaugural event shows that there's an appetite for a fun-filled festival of pop culture in the city.”

Other features include a preview of THQ’s eagerly anticipated game Darksiders II and top animé voice artist Vic Mignogna, whose work includes Fullmetal Alchemist and the Dragonball Z films, will be meeting fans.

As well as seeing the stars, event-goers will also be able to visit the Comic Village, which will showcase the work of top comic creators Lee Bradley, Antony Johnson and John McCrea.

Mr Axbey said: “We're looking forward to returning with an even better show on  July 21 - whether you're into comics, videogames, sci-fi, anime or cosplay, there'll be something at Manchester Comic Con for you!”

Tickets are available on mcmexpostore.com/store/ and children under ten go for free if they are accompanied by a full paying adult, but not more than two per adult.
