BIG MATCHES: On the big screen

By Charlie Bennett

Sports fans can watch Euro 2012 group action for free on the big screen at Spinningfields this summer.

Manchester’s only outdoor cinema Screenfields are showing the Euro 2012 Group Stage Matches for free, so fans can sit back and relax in Hardman Square without tickets.

The matches run daily until June 19 and include Spain vs Italy at 5pm on June 10 and Denmark vs Portugal at 5pm on June 13.

There will also be a two-week Wimbledon line-up from June 25 – July 8, and all Formula 1 Races including the British Grand Prix and the German Grand Prix are shown on July 8 and July 10 respectively.

The Olympics also form a major part of Spinningfields’ sporting arrangement. A selection of races will be shown, with further details announced on their website.

Sports fans who want to watch with a snack can get drinks from the Mojito Bar or Spinningfields’ new pop-up bar, The Yacht Club. Picnics and BBQ food are on offer from Southern 11’s Meat Shack BBQ.
