MM exclusive by David Keane
Rioting has erupted on the streets of Manchester.
We have reports of windows being smashed at stores such as Marks & Spencer, Ugg, Thomas Cook and numerous others.
One of our MM reporters is currently at the scene and is trying to get to safety as police swarm the streets in an attempt to stop the violence.
Reporter Charlotte Duncker said: "There's glass everywhere, people are running in all directions. Loads of windows are being smashed.
"There's police running down the street towards the scene now - it's chaos."
Charlotte is taking cover in a nearby sidestreet and shall be sending over photos in the next few minutes.

UPDATE: One of the first images we have received of masked gang approaching Selfridges

Charlotte had left the office for the day and was on her way to her car when she found herself in the middle of the violence.
The news comes after consistent rumours circulating throughout the day and a constant police prescence in Piccadilly Gardens.
Keep watching MM and following us on Twitter @MM_newsonline for breaking news.

This is frankly distgusting - why cant we all stand up to these little shits, grow a spine and stop them! 100,000 resistance can easily be drummed up. Just sit there, circle town, protect our livelihoods!

Clarification
RIOT - a public disturbance during which a group of angry people becomes noisy and out of control, often damaging property and acting violently. In law, a riot is typically defined as a group of three or more persons disturbing the public peace for private purposes.
I think this can be classed as a riot!!
Smashed windows
Do not constitute a riot, good grief
What more proof do you want,
What more proof do you want, you cretin...
A few idiots?
I think smashed up shops and an overwhelming police presence constitutes a bit of a riot, what else do you want? The Arndale set alight? Someone getting shanked in the street?
Provide proof!
If you have an exclusive, provide some proof fast otherwise you just come across like a bunch of rumour-mongers
PLease be responsible
and avoid alarming people unncessarily. A few idiots breaking some shop windows is not a 'riot'.
Get back home, Charlotte!
