Dense fog in the city has led to a hundreds of holidaymakers having their flights back to the UK diverted away from Manchester Airport.
Eight inbound flights from the continent had to be diverted to Liverpool, Birmingham and East Midlands airports in the early hours of today, with around 1,000 passengers affected.
Four have since returned and the remaining flights are expected to return during the morning.
Passengers on those flights are currently being returned to Manchester by coach.
A spokesman for Manchester Airport said: "Departures are leaving as normal this morning, although there may be minor delays as a knock on from the morning’s weather conditions.
"Passengers travelling today are asked to check with their airline or tour operator for the latest information."
