By Dean Wilkins

Cirque du Soleil are bringing the spectacular Alegría to Manchester this April.

The internationally celebrated creative force will debut Alegría in Manchester as part of their UK tour, having wowed over 100million people worldwide since launching in 1994.

Alegría is a Spanish word that means happiness, joy and jubilation and features an international cast of 55 performers and musicians from 17 countries and showcases breathtaking acrobatics.

Phil Bowdery, President of Touring for Live Nation said: “Cirque du Soleil is a global phenomenon and Alegría is regarded as a jewel in the crown. It’s the ultimate in live entertainment and we’re thrilled to have it tour in UK arenas.”

Throughout the two and a half hour production there will be gravity-defying acrobatics in the ariel high bars as professional entertainers fly to catchers 40 feet above the stage.

There will be fire-knife dancing while brilliantly choreographed synchronised trampoline performances wow audiences.

Cirque du Soleil have performed in 300 cities across five continents since debuting in Quebec in 1984, and its UK tour will be one of the entertainment highlights of the year. Cirque du Soleil will run in Manchester from April 4 to 7.

Tickets for Alegría are priced at £50 and are on sale here or call 0844 856 0202
