A man has been charged after an attempted armed robbery at a Bolton post office.

Kris Andrew Whittaker, 31, of Bradshaw Meadows, Bradshaw, Bolton was charged with attempted robbery and carrying an imitation firearm with intent to commit an offence.

He is due before Bolton Magistrates' Court today.

At about 4.30pm on August 3, a man armed with a fake shotgun went into the Bradshaw Post Office on Lea Gate in Harwood.

He made threats to members of staff but left empty handed.

Nobody was injured in the incident.
