UNITED BOUND? Van Persie

By Mancunian Matters sports staff

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini appears resigned to missing out on signing Arsenal capatain Robin van Persie.

Mancini had been interested in snapping up the 29-year-old Dutch captain and at one point it looked like the Etihad Stadium was van Persie's most likely destination.

But now the Blues' boss looks set to miss out on the much-wanted striker, with reports at the weekend suggesting that Sir Alex Ferguson has skipped Manchester United's Scandanavian tour to force through a deal.

And when asked about van Persie, Mancini said: "Van Persie? No, I don't think he will come here."

It will be a major coup for United boss Ferguson if he was to steal the Dutchman from under the nose of Mancini.

United, who will be looking to wrestle back the Premier League title from neighbours City, finally look close to adding young Brazilian Lucas Moura to their ranks in the coming days.

The Sao Paulo winger, 19, was reported to be on his way to Manchester at the weekend, having been part of the Brazil squad which beat Honduras in an Olympic football game on Saturday.
