Manchester’s very own family-friendly food festival will return for another course of delectable cuisine in August.

The three-day event, which takes place in Piccadilly Gardens, attracted over 15,000 visitors last year.

This year’s picnic will take on a ‘street food’ theme, with sixteen quality food and drink stalls already signed up to serve tasty treats on the day.

Alexandra King, Piccadilly Partnership Director for CityCo said: “This is the third time we have put on a picnic in Piccadilly Gardens and this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever.”

Picnickers can also enter a prize draw to win two night’s accommodation at Stay Manchester Apartments. The winners will enjoy a family apartment for up to five people on Friday 3 August and Saturday 4 August, A Manchester Picnic Pass usable at a range of stalls and also a luxury hamper from Harvey Nichols.

On sale will be a range of foods from around the world including ‘Momo’ steamed dumplings and a host of vegetarian and vegan dishes from Tibetan Kitchen.

Tio’s Snack Shack will be selling espentinhos (marinated meat kebabs), and pateis, (a type of fried pasty) from Brazil.

Manchester’s Greek family restaurant, Papa G’s will be serving charcoal grilled Greek kleftiko in fresh pita and there’ll be authentic Japanese sashimi from Wasabi Sushi.

Chorlton’s very own MasterChef finalist Jackie Kearney will be making an appearance with her famous airstream van, The Hungry Gecko, selling her renowned vegetarian gourmet Asian street food.

She said: “This is becoming an established annual event and I hope people will enjoy this year’s special ‘street food’ theme and try something new.”

Manjit’s Kitchen will be cooking up Punjabi cuisine for those who fancy a curry and The Pizza Pod will create delicious freshly made pizzas from their clay oven.

Gingers Comfort Emporium will be bringing some new flavours of her famous homemade ice cream including salted caramel peanut butter flavour.

As well as Nandos offering Peri Peri chicken, there will also be live music on Saturday from Nando’s Nanockers.

There will be entertainment for all the family from System One’s Mr Red, vintage DJs on Friday, and activities for children on Sunday including a teddy bears picnic with Baby Ballets Twinkle the Bear.
