'Stolen' 5ft crocodile and other reptiles miraculously reappear outside Stockport pet shop
A 5ft crocodile and other exotic animals snatched from a Stockport pet shop were returned this morning.
The dwarf Caiman crocodile and between 60 and 70 other reptile species and birds were returned to Stockport Pet Warehouse at around 1am.
The creatures, including snakes, tortoises and exotic birds, were stolen from the pet shop on Hallam Street in Heaviley between 4.30pm on Monday January 2 and 10am on Tuesday January 3.
Jon Bibby, owner of Stockport Pet Warehouse, said he returned to the shop to find all of the animals waiting outside the front of the shop.
Mr Bibby added that one cockatoo, which he was looking after for a customer, was still missing but might have escaped and flown off.

He said that he was shocked but very relieved that the other animals had been returned and had no idea who could have taken them.
“They were worth thousands of pounds,” he said.
“They have all been returned in good health and will be looked after.”
When contacted, Greater Manchester Police press office, who had appealed for the animals to be returned, said they were unaware of the animals’ safe return.

Police are hunting thieves who made off with a parrot after a raid on a Manchester pet shop.
The blue and gold macaw, called Yankee, was stolen from Pecky's Pets and Aquatics, in Wellington Street, Gorton, in the early hours of Thursday.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said it was a possibility the valuable bird could have been stolen to order, but officers were keeping an open mind.
The six-year-old is 3ft in length from its head to its tail.
The bird - which has blue, yellow, green and white feathers - was stolen along with its cage by raiders who forced open the shop's front door
