Councillor Matthew Colledge is openly confident about his party's success prior to the final count being announced in Trafford this evening.
Speaking to MM, Cllr Colledge said: "I don't think there will be a change in power tonight, but we may possibly see some shift in ward control."
The assured leader doesn't even expect to be kept waiting too long to hear the announcements.
"Last year I was kept here until 5am but after speaking to colleagues it doesn't seem like there has been a big turn out at the ballots"
Cllr Colledge has spoken to over 2,000 of his constituents on their doorsteps recently, only a handful of which have problems with the way the council is being run.
This could mean a relatively early night for the currant council leader who believes the low turn out is due to the party's suitability.
