Reel Deal Offer @ Cornerhouse, Oxford Road

By Melanie Hughes

What’s the best way to watch a film? After a pizza and a pint of beer? Well, that’s exactly what’s on offer at Cornerhouse every Monday and Tuesday for just £12.50.

The ‘Reel Deel’ on offer saves you around £8-£10 which means it’s fantastic value for money and you don’t even have to be a student!

Situated on the corner of Oxford Road and Whitworth Street West the Cafe is open from 11am-11pm Mon-Thurs and the food was lovely. Sure, a pizza is a pizza but these were really fresh and good quality.

Although we had to wait for a few minutes to be seated due to how busy the place was, when we were seated the staff were very attentive and they sorted us with drinks straight away.

We opted for a glass of wine with our meal but you can have a pint of Becks Vier or a soft drink of your choice instead, any other drinks will just be charged at normal price.

Our food didn’t take very long to arrive and, considering the place was packed to the rafters with customers, this was a welcome surprise.

I went for a vegetarian one (they also have a vegan option) with peppers, goat’s cheese, mozzarella and sundried tomatoes which was nicely finished with a touch of garlic oil.

My partner went for an Americano which was salami, red jalapenos and mozzarella they also have a meatball and chorizo pizza on the menu for those of extreme carnivorous vocation.

Along with the menu and wine list is a handy list of film times on it as well so even if you don’t have time to check beforehand you’ll always be informed about what’s on.

The staff are also very knowledgeable about what’s on at Cornerhouse and are always on hand to recommend things to you if you’re stuck for choice!

Remember that this deal is only offered on Mondays and Tuesday and I would suggest booking in advance as the café/restaurant was fully booked from 6-8pm and people were being turned away.

Another option is to see the film first and then come back to eat afterwards which I’m sure would be a preferred choice for many, rather than missing out!

Cornerhouse also has plenty of galleries and exhibitions on if art is your thing. The main exhibition on at the moment is the first major UK public solo show from Rashid Rana, who is an original contemporary artist from Lahore, Pakistan.

Everything Is Happening At Once is a mixture of new and recent works which challenges the scale of a photographic object, opening up its potential to represent cultural, social and physical realities.

You can book over the phone on 0161 200 1500 or through the website at http://www.cornerhouse.org/
