A family are paying tribute to their 'cherished' 18-year-old son, who died in a motorcycle accident on Sunday in Wigan.
Ryan Smith, from the Golbourne area of Wigan, died in hospital after the motorcycle he was riding collided with two other bikes at the junction of Fourmarts Road and Hillridge Road.
A 19-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy were also injured in the collision and both taken to hospital. The boy has since been discharged and the woman remains in a critical condition.
Ryan’s family paid tribute to their son and brother.
“Ryan was a cherished and much loved son to Neville and Rose, a beautiful brother to Lee, Janine and Gareth, and a beloved boyfriend to Emma. You are sadly gone, but will not be forgotten as you are always in our hearts. Sleep tight our angel, we love you always,” they said.
Sergeant Danny Byrne from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit expressed his sympathy at the family’s loss.
He said: “Our sympathies are with Ryan’s family at this tragic time, as they try to come to terms with the loss of their loved one. Our thoughts are also with the families of the other two victims who were seriously injured during this inciden."
Sergeant Byrne also appealed for anyone who may have information surrounding the incident.
“An investigation is ongoing into the circumstances surrounding this collision and I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed it or has any information to contact my officers at the Serious Collision Investigation Unit directly,” he said.
