Summer House @ Exchange Square, Manchester

By Ben Burrows

A new ‘pop-up’ bar is now open in Exchange Square as part of Manchester’s summer preparations.

Summer House is a bright and stylish place to sit and relax in the sunshine and replaces the iconic Manchester wheel.

It is the latest project from Heart Soul Rock & Roll, the team behind Spinningfield’s successful pop up Yacht Club.

Chris Legh, director at Heart Soul Rock & Roll, said: “The Summer House is a truly unique concept creating a vibrant, modern and fresh summer meeting place in Manchester’s City Centre.

“We have creative and colourful events planned throughout the summer and can’t wait to add to the carnival atmosphere with the screening of great sporting events such as the Olympics, the Euros and Wimbledon will bring to Exchange Square.”

The Summer House comprises a pavilion bar and garden serving stylish summer drinks, mezze, summer salads and deli style bar snacks with a special Summer House twist.

Legh added: “The Summer House is a new summer holiday home from home, and the perfect place to soak up the best of the UK’s culture and sporting events this summer.”

It will open for 18 weeks and sports fans will have the best seat in the house for the spectacular summer of sport.

Punters will be able to watch the European Championships, Formula 1, Wimbledon and of course the London 2012 Olympic Games with the BBC big screen within easy watching distance.

In addition, there is an extensive line-up of events that will create a summer party atmosphere in Exchange Square throughout the season – the bar will be hosting regular live music and a full carnival party in August.

The Summer House is open now, from 11am to 11pm.
