A thoughtless traveler is being charged with endangering an aircraft after a flight from Manchester Airport was forced to divert when another passenger had their hair singed.
Smoke filtered around the cabin of the Monarch Airlines flight to Palma, Majorca, after Colin Jones allegedly burned the hair of another passenger he was travelling with.
The plane was forced to divert to Gatwick Airport where Sussex Police officers boarded the aircraft just after 9am yesterday and arrested Jones on suspicion of endangering an aircraft.
Jones, of Mottershead Road, Widnes, Cheshire, has been charged with 'reckless or negligent behaviour likely to endanger an aircraft and other people in the aircraft'.
The 24-year-old has been freed on bail and will appear before magistrates in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, on June 15.
