Manchester City player Michael Johnson was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after crashing his car last night.
The Premier League footballer was questioned by police after smashing his Mercedes into a parked BMW at 3.50am on Grangethorpe Road, Urmston.
The 24-year-old was allegedly on his way to his girlfriend’s home before ploughing into the car and injuring his knee – which he required hospital treatment for.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "At approximately 3.50am on May 31 2012, police were called to reports of a minor road traffic collision at Grangethorpe Road in Urmston.
"A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving."
Johnson made his first-team debut for the Blues in 2006 after climbing his way through the academy.
